Rhinoplasty, also called Nose Surgery, is performed to improve the aesthetic and/or functional values of the nose. There are a number of issues that can add to the dissatisfaction of a person’s nose from a bump or indentation in the profile of the nose, to a nose tip that is too narrow or wide, nostrils that are too large or uneven. A person may feel self-conscious of their nose appearance because they feel their nose just isn’t in proportion with their features, or because their nose is injured in a trauma.

Rhinoplasty is performed using either an open or closed technique. In an open rhinoplasty technique the incision is made on the outside of the nose, in the thin strip between both nostrils, while in a closed technique the incision is inside the nose.
